If you know me, you know I love shoes. A few weeks ago I was at Saks Fifth Avenue swooning over these shoes. $750 of sex on my feet is what I was thinking. Anyhow, an older salesman walked over to me and implied I wouldn’t know what to do with those shoes. I said just stop, look at me and imagine me in these “sex on my feet”… for you I’d just have to stand there. LOL

The new iPhone 4s will be my next mobile purchase. My contract is up with AT&T in December and Siri seems to be a nice new toy along with the 1080 screen.

Steve Jobs - RIP

The passing of Steve Jobs weighs on me like the passing of Michael Jackson. They both played into the development of the creative I am today. They both were the kind of beings that did things that were awe inspiring and game changing. The image of Apple.com after his transition was burned into my head and all night that’s all I saw. I kept trying to figure out why.

I do not consider myself an Apple Fan Girl because I do not jump on any product release and claim it to be the next best thing since God created life. (Sorry for the fanboy/girl shots but it’s true on all sides.) My appreciation of Steve Jobs’ thought process is solely based on how he dictated perfection for the end user, ME.

No other product line has put so much thought into the out the box concept as Apple has. My admiration of how Steve Jobs’ knack for detail and releasing products that work is pretty much how a CEO should focus on a company. His ability to be a peace time and war time CEO is rare indeed. Most importantly he single handedly changed how we communicate, listen to music and watch movies. If you want to admit it or not, Apple has always lead the way.

As I came down the stairs this morning at home and canvassed my living room, I figured out why his passing weighed heavily on me. The iPhones, iPad, Macbooks were lying around ready for a new day of creative thought. Apple really has touched my life as a designer and DJ to help enable my ability to create. If I cannot send a simple thank you for that, then I cannot say I fully understood his vision. My first app would not be in the App Store. My love for UX/UI would not even be anywhere as close as it is now. My podcasts would not flow as they do. If I cannot do what I love every day, then why live?!

On a final note, my condolences to his wife, their children, the Apple family, Tim Cook and those who graced the stage during Tuesday’s keynote who knew what was looming. I think that is why it was not Apple-like. No Steve Jobs pitching this product with the passion we are use to. Now we know why.

Like all great inventors of the past, Thomas Edison and Edsel Ford, GE and Ford Motor Company are still viable and great companies today. It will be interesting to see how Apple pivots and adapts without Steve. I believe Apple will be just fine. Their mindset is, What Would Steve Jobs Do?
